About Us

What Makes JMOMT Different?

JMOMT is not a full body massage; in fact it’s radically different than traditional massage therapy, even deep-muscle sports massage. The techniques blend into a focused treatment protocol dealing only with the muscles involved in the condition being presented.

You will learn how to treat conditions, not just isolated aches and pains. Your client will be able to stay dressed. No oils or creams are involved.

Learn Something Every Day

Julie Donnelly has been a New York State licensed massage therapist since 1989, specializing in the treatment of chronic pain and sports injuries. She has more than 30 years of experience in developing and refining the Julstro Method of Osteopathic Muscular Therapy (JMOMT). This unique therapy style is based on her work with thousands of clients and athletes who were suffering from chronic pain that wasn’t being resolved by chiropractors, physical therapists, and the many massage modalities.Julie has used JMOMT to radically improve their chronic pain and teach many to self-treat so they are able to address their own pain conditions. Her method is based on a deep understanding of muscles that allows her to follow the “chain of pain” in order to trace the painful symptom to the actual cause of the problem. Her work has been enhanced and confirmed by mentors in the fields of Osteopathy, Acupuncture, Shiatsu, and Physical TherapyBy taking her course, you will have the benefit of being able to offer your clients with chronic pain and sports injuries solutions that can provide permanent pain relief.

History

Treating the upper back

A serious bout with carpal tunnel syndrome almost ended Julie’s career as a traditional massage therapist in 1997. Having received no help from medical and massage professionals, she started her own research in understanding the links between her pain and the related muscles.

She was able to avoid recommended surgery and completely eliminated her debilitating symptoms of hand and wrist pain, numbness, and weakness.  This eventually became the Julstro System for Treating Carpal Tunnel Syndrome, Hand and Wrist Pain which has helped thousands of people worldwide

After successfully resolving her own carpal tunnel syndrome problem and teaching her clients how to treat themselves for sustained relief, Julie’s personal experience with pain led her to research other common conditions that result in chronic pain, including frozen shoulder, whiplash, sciatica, severed medial meniscus, torn ACL, severe low back pain, sciatica, sprained ankle, plantar fasciitis, TMJ, and more.

She develop the Julstro System for each of these conditions to help her chronic pain clients, both through her practice and to self-treat at home for permanent pain relief. The success of her technique has encouraged her to offer the Julstro Method of Osteopathic Muscular Therapy Specialist Program to massage therapy practitioners who wish to enhance their skills and provide pain relief to clients with a wide range of chronic conditions.

The Julstro Method of Osteopathic Muscular Therapy training is clinically-based

Julstro Muscular Therapy focuses on an in-depth study of muscles that goes far beyond that of other instructional courses. You’ll find you have more confidence in your ability to design treatment plans that are individualized for each of your clients.
Using the groundbreaking work done by Doctors Janet Travell and David Simons, JMOMT teaches why muscles cause specific painful conditions and how to develop a logical sequence treatment program.
All treatments are done with your client fully dressed, saving you the expense of linens and oils. This allows you to take your practice to any location and opens doors to clients who normally would never go for an oil-massage.
Your 10-hour treatment log is designed to help you understand where you want more direction and how your knowledge has made a significant difference for your client.
You will learn self-treatment techniques that you can teach to your clients, setting you apart from other therapists. Your willingness to direct your clients in their own care will enhance their determination to refer you to their friends, family, co-workers and fellow athletes
